Guide to Creating a

Slovak Rail Account

As a British National

When planning a short trip to Slovakia, I needed to create an account on the Slovak Rail website (www.zssk.sk) to purchase train tickets. While the site offers English translations for most content, some elements—particularly dropdown menus and form fields—remain in Slovak, which can make the registration process a little confusing. After a fair amount of trial and error, I decided to put together this short guide to help others navigate it more easily.

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Head on over to the account creation page (https://konto.zssk.sk/zk/) and select “Registration of a new ZSSK Customer Account”.

2. Enter you e-mail address and password and hit continue.

3. Enter all the relevant contact information. For the Country field, select Veľká Británia which is Slovak for Great Britain.

4. Enter your date of birth.

5. Enter your ID details. For the document type, select Cestovný pas which is Slovac for passport.

6. The last step will be to confirm your account. To do this, check you email for an email similar to the following and click on the activation link:

Dear customer,

to complete your registration of ZSSK ID your-email@gmail.com, you will need to activate your account by clicking the following link:
https://konto.zssk.sk/zk/activate?token=aaaa-9999-4444-8888-ccccccccccc

We kindly ask you to do so at the latest until 1.6.2026 17:34.
